Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Below are the most frequently asked questions regarding Fusion One. Note that the words "program" and "system" are used interchangeably.

1. What is Fusion One?
Fusion One is a safe, simple and effective natural health and self-healing system that is governed by holistic principles, practices and procedures.

2. When was the Fusion One program created?
Although many of the elements or components of the Fusion One system were used by its creator since the 1970's, the Fusion One program, as it exists today, evolved during the 1980s.

3. Who created the Fusion One system?
The Fusion One system was created by health and fitness expert, Gregory N. Whyte.

4. Why was the Fusion One program created?
The Fusion One program was created, primarily, to address many of the health problems and concerns that existed in the 70's and 80's. Another reason for the system's creation was to offer a health improvement program that could provide the many benefits offered by such programs as yoga and tai chi chuan, but devoid of the tremendous effort, time and traditional/cultural knowledge that are, normally, required of those programs.

5. What does the Fusion One program consists of?
In addition to its many health and self-healing concepts, principles and practices, the Fusion One program makes use of a series of exercises that constitute three distinct forms; a lying form, a seated form and a standing form. It is through the use of these forms, and the levels they represent, that the system is able to, safely and effectively, address the health needs of people of all ages.

6. Is a function of Fusion One to diagnose and treat illnesses ?
Fusion One do not advocate that its professionals diagnose and/or treat any illness. Its purpose has always been to help prevent illnesses through education.

7. Are the services of Fusion One directed at a specific population?
No, they are not! Since its creation, the Fusion One program has assisted people from all walks of life. In addition, the system is practiced by people of all ages and with varying degrees of health and levels of fitness. Furthermore, in addition to its general appeal, the very nature of Fusion One makes it ideal for the elderly, the "functionally challenged", persons recovering from certain illnesses and those attempting to reclaim their lost fitness and/or health.

8. What are some of the features that help to make Fusion One so appealing?
First, the system is quite comprehensive and offers much to its users. Second, its exercises and related activities are performed slowly and require a minimum of time, effort and strength. Third, a portion of the exercises are performed while sitting. This situation is ideal for the functionally challenged and those who are incapable of performing the standing or lying exercises. Furthermore, the exercises of Fusion One can be practiced at anytime and require little space. In addition, no expensive, bulky or complicated equipment is required. Depending of the form being done, a chair or mat is all that is required. Finally, Fusion One is a relatively inexpensive activity that may be carried out by individuals or by groups of people.

9. What are the main benefits of practicing Fusion One?
The practice of Fusion One offers many benefits. Over the years, the system has been quite successful at helping to prevent and manage certain illnesses. It also provides its practitioners with a deep and clear understanding of the concepts, principles and practices that are important for the improvement and maintenance of good health. In addition, regular use of the Fusion One program has shown to facilitate the following: a slowing of the aging process, improvement in the circulation of the blood, toning of muscles at various parts of the body, relaxing of tensed nerves, strengthening of muscles and bones, an improvement in vision, increase in flexibility, improvement in coordination and balance, a focusing of the mind, a fostering of deep relaxation, controlling of daily stress, a firming and flattening of the abdominal region and improvement in ones breathing.

10. What proof exists as to the effectiveness of Fusion One?
An informal study conducted from 1997 to 2002 showed that 93% of persons who registered for, and participated in, the eight week long Fusion One seated form, received significant benefits by the end of the fourth week. Also, the many hundreds of testimonials received from practitioners of Fusion One are another testament to the effectiveness of the program.

For those requiring results from studies that are more formal and comprehensive, the three below are provided. These studies were conducted to determine the overall effectiveness and specific benefits of Fusion One. In all cases, the results were favorable.

In 1983 a study was conducted by the Ryusui Center in New York. The purpose of the study was to compare the benefits resulting from the practice of yoga, tai chi and fusion one. The result of the study showed that -when compared to the other two systems- fusion one was easier to learn. Furthermore, when compared to tai chi alone, fusion one was more comprehensive and offered benefits that were more immediate and greater in number.

A second study conducted in 1994 by the Ryusui Center, showed what most practitioners of Fusion One had known for years; the program offers great benefits. The study made use of 34 beginning students who were selected randomly. The selected students were questioned and tested, at the start of their training experience, to determine the presence of any existing health conditions and their levels of fitness. After two months of practice, each student was, again, questioned and tested to determine the effect (s) of the training on existing health conditions, degree of fitness and general well being. All participants experienced positive results (benefits) that included increased flexibility; increased energy; improvement in their ability to relax; increase in muscular strength (especially legs); improvement in the quality of sleep; deeper, more controlled breathing; reduction in the degree of pain caused by minor ailments; some improvement in balance and a general feeling of well being (this last benefit was experienced by all of the participants).

A third study conducted in 1999 by Tiririka Of Florida Inc., duplicated the study of 1994 and obtained similar results.

We welcome any effort on the part of the medical, academic and/or scientific communities to conduct further studies on the benefits and/or effectiveness of the Fusion One program.
